Your Indoor Plant Relocation Checklist
Moving with indoor plants adds a layer of complexity to any relocation, but with the right planning, you can keep your green friends healthy and thriving through the transition. Since 2008, Alex Moving & Delivery Inc, founded by Mason Wright, has helped plant lovers successfully transport their cherished plants with care and expertise.

Actions
1. Assess and Prepare Your Plants
Take inventory of all your indoor plants and consider their size, type, and health. Some delicate or large plants might need special handling or even temporary rehoming if necessary.
2. Prune and Water Appropriately
Trim off dead leaves or overgrown branches to make plants easier to pack. Water plants a few days before the move but avoid overwatering, which can lead to mold or soil spillage.
3. Gather Packing Materials
Use sturdy boxes larger than your plants, packing paper, bubble wrap, plastic bags for soil containment, and stakes to support fragile stems. Banana boxes work well for many plants.
4. Pack With Care
Wrap pots with plastic bags to keep soil contained and cushion plants carefully to prevent damage. Ventilate boxes with holes and clearly label all as “Live Plants” to ensure special handling.
5. Transport Thoughtfully
Whenever possible, move plants in your personal vehicle to control temperature and light exposure. Avoid placing plants in the moving truck for long distances unless climate-controlled.
6. Post-Move Care
Unpack plants last to give them time to acclimate. Gradually reintroduce them to light, avoid direct sunlight for a few days, and monitor soil moisture closely to help reduce stress.
